Calvin's Paris Pre-Tour, RhOne River Cruise, and Luther's Germany Post-Tour

In the sixteenth century, the Reformation God ignited through Martin Luther swept across the European continent. The Lord raised up other Reformers throughout Europe, including men like John Calvin in France and Geneva, to continue this work of bringing the light of God’s Word to people who had long languished in darkness and confusion. Calvin’s unyielding dedication to the gospel, his warm pastoral heart, and his vibrant theological writings continue to shape the worship and devotion of God’s people today.

Join Ligonier Tours before the cruise and explore historic Paris, learning about the early years of John Calvin’s education and training in the City of Light. You’ll journey to the Latin Quarter to see where young Calvin lived and studied, taking in the impressive sights of the Sorbonne, the Notre-Dame Cathedral, and the Louvre. While at the Louvre, you will visit the site where the Saint Bartholomew’s Day Massacre began, resulting in the murder of tens of thousands of Protestant Huguenots across France. As one of the bloodiest attempts by French Roman Catholics to crush Protestantism, this event became a bleak reminder of the ongoing and costly need for reformation. The pre-cruise tour concludes with a first-class train ride from Paris to Avignon.

*Guests have the option to add an excursion to Normandy on April 22nd, 2022.
