Post Tour ITINERARY: May 3 - May 7, 2022

Day 1, May 3rd (Post Tour) - Departure from Lyon to Mainz

After a full breakfast, we will bid farewell to our Ligonier ship and head through the French countryside into Germany via train. Once we arrive and check-in at the Ligonier hotel in Mainz, you will have the opportunity to explore and enjoy dinner on your own.

Day 2, May 4th (Post Tour) - Mainz and Worms

Our morning begins in Mainz as we focus on Bible printing history and the contribution of Johann Gutenberg, who developed moveable type. We will have the opportunity to view the original copies of the Bible in the Gutenberg Museum. After lunch on our own in Mainz, we will travel to Worms together to the site of the Worms Debates (Diet of Worms), now a park, with a plaque commemorating the Diet of Worms and the Reformation Monument. We will hear the stories of Luther as he responded “Here I stand; I can do no other. God help me.” 

We will then return to our hotel in Mainz for dinner together.

Day 3, May 5th (Post Tour) - Heidelberg

This morning, we will travel on to one of the most charming cities in all of the world - Heidelberg, ancient capital of the Palatinate and home of Germany's oldest university. But most importantly, it was a stronghold of German Reformed Protestants beginning in 1560. One of the great confessional statements of the Reformation, the Heidelberg Catechism was produced here in 1563.  Enjoy lunch on your own and free time in Heidelberg before we head back to our hotel in Mainz. You will have the rest of the evening at your liesure in Mainz.

Day 4, May 6th (Post Tour) - Marburg to Frankfurt

Our destination today is the city of Marburg. Through its 800 year history, Marburg has had many famous residents and visitors, among whom are Elizabeth of Thuringia, Martin Luther, and the Brothers Grimm. Once in Marburg, we will ascend the historic city streets en route to the Castle of Marburg where the famous colloquy took place with Martin Luther, Martin Bucer, and Ulrich Zwingli.  Enjoy lunch in Marburg and free time to explore the old city.  After leaving Marburg, we will then head to Frankfurt for our final dinner together.

Day 5, May 7th (Post Tour) - Departure from Frankfurt

For guests flying home, guests will be departing from their hotel attached to the Frankfurt Airport (FRA).

Early Bird Rate Rate based on double occupancy: $2,799.00 per person
Early Bird Rate Rate based on single occupancy: $3,402.00 per person

Standard Rate (by April 1, 2021):

Standard Rate based on double occupancy: $3,010.00 per person
Standard Rate based on single occupancy: $3,613.00 per person


   

The rate for your tour includes conference fees, taxes and gratuities, luxury accommodations, luxury coaches, dynamic conference times with our speakers, and concierge service from Sovereign's Guardian Angels throughout your entire journey.

Fees NOT Included: Airfare, excess baggage rates, meals not included in the itinerary, all items of a personal nature such as laundry, cleaning, telephone or fax expenses, beverages including tea and coffee (except at breakfast), wines, liquors or soft drinks. A local tipping guideline will be provided with the customer documents for any service purchased by guests on their own.

To fully participate in this tour, you must be able to walk long distances, have good balance capabilities and be able to walk on uneven terrain. There will also be some climbing involved as well as long periods of standing. Due to the historical nature of some of our destinations, not all facilities will be ADA compliant.
